This might be what first comes to mind when you think of “cat hotels.” Try not to let the one on the bottom eat the one on the top. Something sparse, utilitarian, but relatively comfortable - for a demon pet.
Some architects in New York City (this is making me slightly ashamed to say that I am a resident of the same urban area) have different ideas about what kitty hotels should be. So, they participate in an event called ‘Giving Shelter,’ which, according to the New York Times, is a contest to create the “snazziest winter homes for the city’s thousands of stray cats.” Apparently, business isn’t booming for architects these days, but at least they’re finding ways to pass their weird cat people free time.
Architects, from allegedly legitimate firms/Harry Potter characters such as “FXFOWLE,” built cat hotels out of materials like pipes, tubs, denim and their dignity for feral cats that roam the city streets. There may be some issues housing the thousands of stray cats with some piddling charity hotels, but luckily, the winning entry took that into account. The entry, a “20-pound plastic tub full of recycled denim and moss” (so…garbage?) also has a light on the roof that doubles as a “No Vacancy” sign. Always one step ahead.
